12 Selling Skills
Conclusion: Seven Secrets to Sales Success
To this time, you can already afford to earn two
to three times as much as you are earning today.
All the people who are standing
before you in the game of life have been standing behind you,
sometimes at a great distance.
And what they did to get ahead,
you can do too.
Here are seven final ideas for you
to use every day to quickly improve your business results.

1. Work seriously.
Make the decision to do all you can to get to the top,
to join the ranks of the top 10% of salespeople in your field.
When you get serious about selling
and decide to do the best you can,
your life begins to change
and you’re on your way
to becoming one of the best in your field.
“A brand for a company is like a reputation for a person.
You earn reputation by trying to do hard things well.” – Jeff Bezos

2. Identify the personal skills that are standing in your way to success.
Is there a skill that,
if you develop it and excel,
could double your sales and earnings?
Whatever your answer is,
write it down,
make a list of all the things you can do to learn that skill,
and start today,
step by step,
to do it master that skill.
You may only need one more skill
to double your earnings.
And once you’ve mastered this skill
(which you can certainly do if you want to),
you’ll need to ask yourself this question one more time:
“Now, is there any skill that can help me so much?”
best in increasing your income?”
Then you set that new skill as a goal,
make a plan to learn that skill.
Throughout your career,
be a do-it-yourself project,
always working on developing the skill
that can help you the most at that moment.
“Make your product easier to buy than your competition,
or you will find your customers buying from them, not you.” – Mark Cuban

3. Choose your friends carefully.
Always be with the right people.
Charlie Jones once said,
“Five years from now you will still be friends,
if you don’t read new books
and meet new people.”
Positive people associate with other positive people.
Winners associate with winners.
As you change your mind
and become completely objective about yourself
and your abilities,
you will begin to attract people who think
and feel the same way as you do.
At the same time,
negative and useless people will also leave you,
finding you no longer attractive to them.
The best salespeople are “the loners.”
I don’t mean the “lone-someone,”
unapproachable people who have no friends or associates.
It just means that the best salespeople always choose
the people they associate with.
They don’t allow themselves to spend time
with negative people who can frustrate them
with constant complaints and pessimism.
“Create something,
sell it,
make it better,
sell it some more.
Then, create something that makes it obsolete.” – Guy Kawasaki

4. Decide to live forever.
Take good care of your physical health.
Decide today,
that you will live to be 90 or 90 years old.
Then examine your current habits
that may be affecting your health and ask yourself:
“What health-affecting habit is there that,
if I developed it,
would help me the most?
in improving your health and energy?”
Decide on your ideal weight
and then make a plan
to reach that weight,
and maintain it for the rest of your life.
Decide on the measurements
and energy levels you want to achieve,
and then start exercising regularly
so you can feel great about yourself.
Remember the man who lived to be 100,
who was interviewed by a newspaper
and asked how he feels to live to be 100.
He said:
“If I had known I would live to this age,
I would have taken better care of myself.:
Your job is to take good care of yourself today
so that you will live a long life,
so that you feel great about yourself along the way.
“What we really need is a mindset shift that will make us relevant
to today’s consumers,
a mindset shift from ‘telling & selling’
to building relationships.” – Jill Stengel

5. Practice creative visualization.
Continually envision yourself as the best in your field.
Remember, the person you “see”
will be the person you “become.”
All improvement in your life begins
with an improvement in your mental picture of yourself.
When you visualize
and see yourself as a successful,
courageous,
positive,
and confident person,
your unconscious mind will accept
that image as a command
and organize external behaviors,
so that it aligns with your inner picture.
You change your outer life from within,
by creating interesting mental pictures
of the person you want to be
and the life you want to live.
“If you are not moving closer to what you want in sales (or in life),
you probably aren’t doing enough asking.” – Jack Canfield

6. Practice talking to yourself in a positive way.
Take control of your inner dialogues.
Your emotions are largely determined
by how you talk
to yourself throughout the day.
Psychologists
It’s “Explanation Style.”
The challenge here is that if you’re not careful
to talk to yourself in a positive way,
you’ll automatically fall into thoughts of things
that might upset
or drive you crazy.
Instead of letting this happen,
say positive things
to yourself,
such as:
“I like myself!”
“I am the best!”
“I love my job!”
“I can do it!”
“Every day, in every day,
I will get better and better.”
The most powerful words are the words you say
to yourself and believe in them.
As you repeat these positive messages
over and over again,
you program them deeper
and deeper in your unconscious mind
until you walk,
speak,
think,
and feel agree with those words
and thoughts.
Take action
and keep acting.
Always act positive:
take action,
stay busy,
move and develop a “sense of urgency.”
The common characteristic
of all successful people in all fields is
that they act with direction
and are constantly in motion.
They believe in “do, fix, try!”
The good news is,
the faster you move,
the more you travel,
the more people you meet.
The more people you meet,
the more sales you make.
The more you sell,
the more money you make.
The more money you make,
the more active
and motivated you become
to meet more people,
and the more you sell,
the more money you make.
Keep repeating to yourself the phrase:
“Do it now.
Do it now!
Let’s do it now!”
until those words are programmed into your thoughts
and feelings.
As Albert Einstein once said,
“Nothing happens until something moves.”
Your job is to move.
Make sure you’re the fastest-moving person on your sales team
who’s constantly on the move.
When you become excellent at what you do,
you will always have enough control over your present
and your future.
You will always be able to afford yourself
and your family a full life.
You will always be able to
take control of your own life and destiny.
